How to read the Nasdaq 100 chart (for beginners)

Four steps, about two minutes. You don’t need any trading experience.

  1. 1Start with the weeklyPress Weekly. Is the line mostly going up, down or sideways over the years? That is the big weather.
  2. 2Look at the candlesEach bar is one time period. Green = it closed higher than it opened, red = lower. Long wicks show where the price was pushed back. Learn support and resistance.
  3. 3Add the trendPress Moving averages. Price above the lines = an uptrend for that period. Moving averages lesson.
  4. 4Check the strengthAdd RSI. Above 70 = bought very hard, below 30 = sold very hard. Neither means “buy” or “sell” on its own. RSI lesson.

About Nasdaq 100 and this chart

The Nasdaq 100 is dominated by big tech and AI names, so it moves more than the S&P 500 on rate and tech news.

This chart follows a 24/7 contract that tracks the Nasdaq 100. The real index only trades in its market's hours, so the biggest moves usually come at the cash open and after major economic news.

Nasdaq 100 chart FAQ

Is this Nasdaq 100 chart live?

Yes. The last candle moves with the live price every 30 seconds while the page is open, and the full history refreshes every 30 minutes. Prices come from Hyperliquid (trade.xyz).

Is the Nasdaq 100 chart free?

Yes – free, with no sign-up, no account and no ads that block the chart. Every indicator button is free too.

Which time frame is best for the Nasdaq 100 chart?

There is no single best one. Use 30 minutes or 1 hour to see today’s moves, 4 hours for the last couple of weeks, daily for the last months, and weekly for the big picture over years. A good habit: look at the weekly first, then zoom in.

Which indicators can I add?

Moving averages, the EMA 200, Bollinger Bands, the Ichimoku “Kumo” cloud, volume, RSI, MACD, Stochastic and Kumo’s support and resistance levels. Press a button to add or remove it; Kumo explains each one beside the chart.

Does this chart predict where Nasdaq 100 will go?

No. A chart shows what the price has done; indicators are maths on that past price. For Kumo’s short-term outlook with targets and a track record, see the Nasdaq 100 forecast page. Nothing here is financial advice.

What does “rainy” mean on this page?

Kumo turns each indicator into weather: sunny = pointing up, cloudy = no clear direction, rain = pointing down. The time frame’s weather is the average of all its indicators. It describes the chart right now, not the future.
